i'm sydney born & bred, so here goes:
they are pretty much interchangeable, though i can think of situations where 'mate' would be appropriate & 'dude' wouldn't be, depending on who says it. you could say 'thanks mate' when recieving change or something, but if you said 'thanks dude' that'd be a little odd if you were over the age of 16.
it's got a broader use & a vaguely friendlier connotation. of course, a mate is literally a companion, whereas dude is more superfluous. though i hear it used in a condescending/ironic way ALL the time. usually before a fist gets thrown in someone's face it's all, "mate, i didn't touch your girlfriend!"

Dig deep and be imaginative is the better area of this question. If we can say "The living God" then we may also say "The useless God" If we are saying "The Eternity God" does this advise that this God will under no circumstances die. historic past can enlighten us to the toughness of Gods and faith the position those Gods of the previous have died even as the society that replaced into dedicated to that categorical God who dies out of life. we are then left with the mysteries contained in the artifacts that linger in the sands of time which archaeological have uncovered that a particular society non secular practises. So my end is. "The living God scenario is in person-friendly words alive as those followers and devotees are alive to shop that particular God alive. even as this fails and this society now no longer exist or adjustments to different Gods then there is the shortcoming of life of that God particular and its faith.
