hawk,
Rome is only several miles north of Atlanta. She'll be just fine. I don't know much about Rome, but Atlanta has a huge Japanese community...there's a Japanese Embassy there. Bunches of Japanese grocery stores that sell videos and magazines, as well as restaurants...just about anything she wants.

Roma, Georgia? I live near that and it's pretty much kinda of country? So if she likes small places and very little shopping [ in Rome itself ] then yeah she'll like it. I mean it's quite and it's pretty but it's way out there. You'll drive about 30 minute just to get to another city. Everything out that way is county living. There's Cartersville and Yorkville, Dallas, and Hiram, and Cedar Town near by. Cartersville has a pretty good shopping area and some nice places to eat. Dallas and Hiram are next to each other and they have pretty good shopping and a nice theater that was just built about a year and a half ago, and Bowling and there's a great place to ride bikes and walk. The state has taken a old railroad track up and put down a walk way for people to walk and ride bikes, it streaches all the way to Alabama. It's really nice, I think it go's into Rome but I'm not sure. All the surrounding area is about north of Atlanta. From Dallas and Hiram , Atlanta's about 30 to 40 minutes away. So from Rome it's at least an hour and a half. But the cities around it aren't all that small there's lots to do and Six Flags isn't that far away neither, We have Stone Mountain which is great, lots and lots to do. All kind of places in Atlanta and Marietta. Cartersville isn't that small. But most of your cities around Marietta, Kennesaw and Atlanta are more living areas, where you can get away from the city life and hear the crickets and the streams and actually see the stars at night. And if she does like to shop, Oh my , you'll been close to so many outlet malls up that way. Name brand everything at super cheap prices!!!!!!! Right down to carpet!!!! And we do know our hospitality in the south. Apple pie and back yard bar-b-q. Don't get much better.

Did you mean Rome, Georgia? If you did...no offense to those in Georgia...but they are not generally known for thier openmindedness. I don't want to sound judgmental...but the south is not known for lack of bigotry. It would be culture shock for her at the very least. There must be a reason you would pick there. If you know people who live there, ask them and talk to them about your real concerns, whatever they are.
