not that i know of...it really shouldn't change your connection speed...it's just used so you can use a laptop with wireless capabilities wirelessly within 400 ft.
if you have any worries about the download speeds, you can always connect to the router through a hard wire. It won't change the connection speed at all.

Not as long as your broadband speed is less than your wifi speed.
If for example your broadband speed is 1meg and your wifi is more than 1meg then your speed limit isn't determined by anything on your own network. I think the average broadband speed is 2meg now, your wired network at home is very likely 100meg, wifi probably around 50+ meg, so both your wired and wifi can take the full speed of your internet connection with plenty of local bandwidth still free.
There is another layer of security in wifi though, assuming you have it switched on. So if you compare a wired connection on your network to a wifi connection, using the same machine and the same web site, then you will notice a difference in speed which is much more to do with the security layer, i.e. decoding the packets. You haven't lost internet speed, only local network speed, or more of your PC's resources are being used in the communications.
So, if you have a lot of downloads to do, many of us buy our music online these days, then it is better to have that coming in on a wired connection if that is possible on your home network.
Please don't be tempted to switch off security because of what I have said, on a modern PC we are talking about negligible differences.

It shouldn't. Your internet connection probably isn't fast enough that the wireless network will be a bottleneck, i.e. your router can send data to your computer much faster than it can get it from the internet.
