I rented an apartment once and in the kitchen there was a large square of new linoleum in the middle of the floor. I thought nothing of it. The next month when the landlord came for the rent we were making small talk while he was filling out the receipt. I casually asked what happened there someone spill a hot pan of grease? He said no the last guy who lived here was shot by the police and died. I moved the next month!

Yes I am for real, our host even put us in the same bed where her son had shot his father through the head. She even explained how much time it had taken to get the room cleaned up, I could not get out of there quick enough.
