Did I miss something? Did they stop teaching English in public school? I see people in this section who can't even spell simple words correctly, much less type a sentence properly. The world must be even more of a cesspool than I thought. Aren't these people ashamed of themselves?

To all those idiots who complained about my question: Thanks for proving my point!
To those who bitched that I am overly critical: Obviously, people haven't been criticized enough. There is nothing wrong with pointing out errors where they occur.
In this day and age, poor education is indicative of one thing: laziness. Unless you live in a third-world country, there are plenty of cheap and even free (yes, there are actually internet sites for this stuff) resources that one can use to improve one's language abilities. I shouldn't have to suffer the atrocious writings of others because they are lazy. Do you know how I learned proper grammar, spelling, and other such things? It was (mostly) by READING BOOKS! Is that such an alien concept to people these days? When was the last time any of the whiners out there ever cracked an actual book without being forced to do so?

I am not disgusted, but I think that if you want to stand out as being more intelectual, you should have good spelling and grammar, especially since this is a question and answers website. It has all come about because of txt language and msn.

There are a few answers to your question Maya. One is that some people are having problems and maybe they type so fast and don't think to check to see if they spelled anything right or not, it's not like they're writing a term paper or something. As long as someone understands them and responds. Secondly, some people may not have had the opportunity to get as good of an education as YOU clearly did, so it's wrong to look down on people and be so judgmental over something as little as spelling. Stop being so damn uppity and get over yourself. You're not the only educated person on planet Earth. There's nothing wrong with being proud about the fact that you can spell, but everybody can't do everything, no matter how simple it may seem to someone else.

Yeah...they kind of did. I'm in an enriched English program and we haven't done any spelling or grammar at all. All we ever seem to do is write essays. I get all my grammar lessons from French, and it does cause some confusion because I have to translate mentally and conjugate my verbs. I used to be able to spell really well, but then...something happened and I lost it. I get really angry when I ask or answer a question and I spell something wrong or didn't use punctuation properly. It also ticks me off when people don't double space after periods...but that's just me and what I learned in BTT (French introduction to business class). Ahaha, that rhymes. =D

Yes. It is not that hard to check your spelling, there is a spell check option on the top right corner of the text box.
As for if they are ashamed of themselves, it doesn't seem that they are judging by how often they make mistakes.
The only way it could be excusable is if the person is new to English, in other words just learning!

Maya, why are you complaining. Who cares if they don't know how to type or spell. They come on here to ask a question, not to be ridiculed by a hypercritical person. Most people don't ask enough questions because they are too embarrassed that they will sound stupid for not knowing. The last thing they need is some one around telling them that they're a cesspool and should be ashamed of themselves. I think your must come from a cesspool cause you stink.

People from all sorts of background come here and not necessarily that they all are from the English speaking world !
I know sometimes it can be a little irritating but in today's concept of globalosation, i would suggest we forget such small things and make this world a better place.
Oh well, as far as the grammar and spelling is concerned, its not that much of importance anyway, as long as you get what the other person is trying to convery.
And i have learnt its best to tolerate things as they are and celebrate differences; of course we should all try for perfection.
English though accepted as a global language today, many people are not used to it in their daily lives. So i would suggest that you take it easily and not be so much worried about it.

Talk to Lori about this. She seems to be the grammer and spelling Queen!
I think our standards have just dropped dramatically. My english teacher at school doesn't even know when to use apostrophes. We were also told that we could write our end of year essays in 'txt' language.
I personally think spelling and grammer is vital, but I believe being able to get your ideas across is far more important

I had a glance at that information superhighway website you cautioned and that's superb, in so a procedures because it is going. It basically would not bypass a procedures adequate. enable me illustrate. in case you requested me "Who replaced into Saul of Tarsus?" i might want to easily answer, "He replaced right into a Jew, taught by ability of Gamaliel in the first century A.D., and he hated Christians a lot he persecuted them to lack of life." finished quit. may I actually have informed any lies? may I actually have slandered Saul of Tarsus? No. yet because i finished my answer short of going on to then clarify how Christ appeared to him, switched over him, and then Saul became the Apostle Paul - between the fantastic Christians who has ever lived - i'd have misled you. that's the priority you face as a JW. you've been informed a lot by ability of your leaders it truly is factually real, you compromise for it as precise and do not imagine to probe more beneficial. Is there more beneficial to that version than you've been informed? you're content fabric with the account you've received. It is wise to you. It assures you. in spite of the undeniable fact that the actual undeniable actuality that your Society has produced 3 historic previous books, the hot one admitting to many stuff the previous 2 did not own as a lot as, is demanding for seekers after God's actuality. do you know that particular issues the third version admits to were outrightly denied in the first version? And did you know that the in undemanding words reason the third version admits to them is that non-JWs had first uncovered the information in public? Had they no longer finished that, your third historic previous version may nevertheless be denying issues that's now compelled to admit to. Sorry to infuriate you. bypass correct ahead and block me. Deny there's a project. Protest that i'm spreading lies and slander. do not, for a 2d, bypass examine out the old books your leaders revealed and consider them with the hot version. no individual needs to spread lies or slander about the Watchtower Society because it has any such voluminious output of literature going back one hundred thirty 5 years, the information is nice there for everyone keen to do basically a touch scholarly study. Get digging on your Kingdom hall library. Christians in this website will be praying for you, in love.

i have a theory about people. 90% of the people in this world is either an idiot or a moron. The other 10% have the job of trying to keep the 90% from killing themselves. I hate having to decipher what some people type in here. I can read typos pretty well but a lot of the stuff in here makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. People use spell check or go back to school! I firmly believe that some people should be sterilized at birth to improve the human gene pool!
