Confused about my choice of Degree?

I have always liked to work in a place such as the Red Cross/UN/WHO. And I like to do something related to health. I was planning to do a degree in Public Health. But I dont want to be totaly involved in health only. I like to do other things such as Social work, Community work etc. My main interest is field work and helping to prevent diseases etc in poor communites - but along with this I would like to help in other ways.
So what kind of a Degree do you think would suit me?...Public health (Major) and something else?

You might look at a joint MSW/MPH this would give you a very strong background in both. Especially if you focus on international social work (Look at Monmouth in NJ). You might also look at work in international development, international relations. DA

I think you're on the right track. I'm not sure of your classification, but you could get a bachelor's in a field of things: social work, nursing, a foreign language, education, maybe international business. Next, you need an advanced degree. If this is what you want to do, a dual degree in Social Work and Public Health is the path for you to take. Many schools of Social Work offer a dual degree so you can receive both simultaneously in 3 years, instead of the 4 years it would take to receive them separately.

A good degree to have for most of these fields is one in sociology. You can so a lot of it without having to minor in anything else because it's such a broad field. Because public health is such a specific field, I'd suggest a bachelor's in sociology with a master's in public health.
