Simple! They are inconsistent because their salary and tips are always consistent ! Once there is a threat of inconsistency in their payments(ie) play and get payed,only then will consistency come in Indian cricket.

The players are more interested in non-cricketing activities instead of concentrating on cricket. Lack of team spirit, dire desire of winning make them inconsistant.

Lack of team sprit ( like Pakistan) and non availablity of allrounder like Kapildev in world cup 1983 ever owned by India .
