How can I find out who owns it, and if no one does how do I purchase it then? Buy it off the state? I have no idea how this is done, please help me out here. Thanks.

i know this may sound out there, but i have had good success buying land on ebay. You just have to look around to make sure you are getting a good price. I also suggest using google by typing land and the area you would like to purchase the land. I have also used a realator to look into purchasing land..

Go to the county clerk's office and give them the location of the property. The address of the property on either side of it or at least on one side of it. They will have a plot map and will be able to tell you the size of it and who owns it. It is registered to someone even if it is the government.

Check you local tax office, somebody has to be paying the taxes on it. that is the person you need to talk to.
