When mine started, that's what it felt like. 38 weeks is totally safe and fine, though.
Congratulations!
If the pains get about 10 min apart, call the doctor or go to the hospital.
It could be false labour; if the pains get stronger, you'll know its real.

Yes, it could be the start of labor. However that late in pregnancy I had real bad braxton hicks contractions that felt like my monthly as well. Just time the contractions to get an idea of how far apart they are. Real labor will cause the contrations to be regular and they will not stop, only get stronger and longer. If they are braxton hicks contractions they will eventually subside and will not be consistant. But if worse comes to worse and you are unsure or worried, the hospital has monitors that will check on the baby and contractions. Good luck.

Could be labor or braxton hicks. THe last trimester is the most uncomfortable with assorted aches and pains! Good luck!

Thats how it started with two of mine. The beginning feels just like a crampy period. Good Luck!!!!

have you had bloody show yet? My pains were never regular..... almost didn't make it to the hospital.... Phone your health care provider and follow their advice.
