if you read any tabloid, the one thing they always say about any celebrity is THEIR AGE, like it's so important. people use age as an excuse to act a certain way. if they're young, they can be immature. if they're old, they can be lazy or boring. why can't people just be PEOPLE, and not let AGE dictate everything? people act like you can tell everything about someone just by their age. the truth is, not all people of a certain age are the same.
not to mention, we're ALL going to get older and be different ages, so it makes no sense to discriminate against certain ages because that will be US later.

I guess since celebs are perceived to do all these things to maintain a youthful appearance tabloids counter that by making age a big deal. In our culture (and others, UK agism is worse) looks are associated with age. I think that begets all the other negative judgments. Ex: let's say a person is 40 but doesn't look the way many would assume age. Age wouldn't be an issue because of their appearance, thus the usual negative stigmas would be dissolved and their age "forgiven". The same for opposite situation, it would be an issue if somone was 30 but looked 50. Depending on one's lifestyle the number only determines some things about the person physically. There is no monolithic look, physical condition, or personality for 16, 18, 20,30, 40, etc. They just put too much stock in the number being high or low in relation to life expectancy, which depends on health. Some may use it as an excuse because a given behavior may be accepted as normal for a given age. Consequently, those of that age are stereotyped. It's just another form of descrimination. It's like halo effect bias, the generalization of one thing about the person to an overly favorable evaluation of the whole person. That one thing becomes the whole thing.

Because h'wood, ect, want to force everyone to be in this cookie-cutter mode and if you don't 'cut it", you're out, you're like less than 'nothing'.....and you might as well croak...
Alot of it has to do with this "18-49" demographic fixation that
the media elite has towards people.
Everyone is "supposed" to be fulfilled only if they can live up to
a tabloid mentality of perfection, especially if one is female...
Look at all the attention being paid to anna nicole smith still and all the others that the wold considers to be "important:" -- and DEFINITELY more "important" than "average" people, but we are ALL precious in the sight of God and He is no respecter of persons!! =)
Jesus gave His life for EACH and EVERY one of us and we will ALL go into eternity and stand before God one day...and that is so much more important than what hollywood, etc, would have us to think about each other and about ourselves.
Man judges by the outward appearances, God judges by the heart -- I Samuel. when David was being annointed as the next king of Israel, God told His prophet, Samuel, not to judge
David on outward appearances.
If it's not age, it will be something else. Some people have this
"clique" mentaliity and want to belong to groups that exclude others, so that they can "feel" superior on some level even when they areb't -- and they know it -- INSIDE.....
There are NONE righteous, no not one.....All the "beautiful peple" have to come before God and without the BLOOD and
the RIGHTEOUSNESS of Jesus, they are totally condemned for all eternity...just like anyone else...
