Great question man!
But reality and truth is this, people usually hate what they cannot have and what they are jealous of. Its hard I think if you are living and working in a society you become enclosed in a way in your own world. Sadly the middle East is a breading ground of a lot of hatred and I think it really started with the establishment of the country called Israel when there wasnt a country of Israel for 3000 years. I have been studying this situation for many many years and read many articals and this appears to be where the root of this hatred has started from especially in that region.
I am not going to judge whether this was right or wrong as if you look around the world there are hundreds of examples where countries exist which should not and others peoples and commutnities that could be a country which are still under the cloak of an empire such as Indonesea, China and even Russia.
I dont think that hatred is only isolated to the Americans but towards the democratic world in general.
A Catholic priest told me once that if someone has a problem with you and displays hatred towards you its their problem not yours. This is the same with Hatred toward America the people who are hating have a problem not the Americans themselves. No country in the world exists without its own faults even question marks against its own existence.
Dont worry be happy!

I had a great series of conversations with my french hostel mate in los angeles. The main concern from foreign visitors or those that keep up with our political culture is that politics isn't taken seriously enough. They feel that the government is far too intertwined with corporations (look at the fact Bush just signed into law a new bill that severely cuts into the middle class with heavy fines for filing bankrupcy- it was written by the largest bank/creditor in the US: MBNA). We also have allowed globalization and the economic success of the foreign market violate human rights completely. We are unable to realize the impact of our lack of nationalized healthcare, immigration policy solution and poverty reform. Of course the Iraq war and our continued cultural impsitions have a deep impact on how the wrold views us (think about the fact Saudi Arabia is perhaps one of the most corrupt nations in the world, yet due to their natural resources the government has been maintaining relations with them that are kept secretive from the US government). You know an interesting fact is that if Africa as a continent was capable of forming a union similar to the European Union- it would be the wealthiest continent in the world- the fact that government corruption hinders its surplus of natural resources AND the fact that many nations within the G8 such as the United States limit the abilities of nations of Africa by pushing them further into international debt is a crime alone that nations outside the United States are well aware of and concerned about. Another major dislike foreigners have of our government practices is the fact that we are such aconsumerist country (our wants exceed our needs- and we purchase along those lines- hence pushing us further into debt, so much debt that in fact the economy will be collapsing soon due to the inability of the government's economy to support so many Middle Class Americans and the upcoming influx of Generation Y/The Internet Generation). So all in all- to conclude before I rant any further- the foreign distaste for American government stems from our inability to look beyond our borders- it's a fact bred by our consumer and superpower culture. Hopefully political apathy will slowly become a thing of the past with future generations such as my own.

Americans could care less because they are too busy like ants running around trying to support their families and only stop for a second when one shocking Bush debacle after another is revealed in the news. That's been the existence for Americans. Foreigners are wondering why Americans are so stupid as to allow greedy. murdering fascists to crumble a formerly respected democracy.

Traveling the world the last couple years, I have always found that other countries do hate the U.S.. They interfere with their governments and try to control what they do.
Yet, In the last couple years they are more up set with Bush.

I could care less what the turd world or europe for that matter thinks about us. It is funny how that works though - they will jump on a boat to come here in a second given the chance.

If American cared what Europe thought about us, we wouldn't have began kicking them out of here in 1776!
I won't lose any sleep worrying about what foreigners think!

Actually, it's quite funny!
Many times it is jealousy. We have so much other countries can only dream of. So, why doesn't their country provide it???
Look at North Korea?? He's screwing his people royally! When they have no food, he blames us for sinking the ships bringing n food.
Frankly, I don't care if they like us or not.

For what? Allowing its citizens to be so emersed with freedom that they can say ANYTHING they want about their government and not be executed for it? Yep. I can see where you're coming from.
LET them hate it. They just don't know what it's like since they've never lived here.
