was restless for it to be over. It got a lot of thumbs up, so I'd like to hear why. And just so you don't put me in some kind of I don't get it category, I loved Mulholland Drive, Memento, The Illusionist, but I felt cheated out of two hours of my life after watching Prestige.

I think you should watch it again! The Prestige is a wonderful film. Perhaps you just weren't in the right mood to enjoy it.

I actually preferred it to Memento. I thought the backward editing actually fit better with the content in The Prestige, plus I found the whole drowning clones thing delightfully disturbing. Bale and Jackman were marvelous, David Bowie was way cool - and Andy Serkis with the cat...well..., that was preciousss. I would give it 8 out of 10, actually, and I'm picky.

Movies are all just personal preference. I loved it immediatly because I love that era, I love the magicians' gadgets and I love the cast and the director. They did a good job making both lead characters sympathetic and the end wasn't as disappointing as most movies with big set ups tend to be. There was plenty of foreshadowing that kept me thinking about it for days after I saw it the first time. But just because everyone else likes it doesn't mean you have to.

It was slow, but it was good if you got over that. They seem to have a lack of editors in HOllywood now so they have quite a few 2+hr films.
