I met a guy online almost 6 months ago, and we've been flirting with each other until last January. He was on a business trip and IMed me back wishing me a happy new year AND "a significant other". (He wrote, "I wish you could find a significant other this year.") I asked him if he would like to stay in touch EVEN if I do find my significant other, and he wrote that I COULD take him as an online friend if I like. So we still contact each other, and he's cautioned me about a guy whom he didn't like or trust several times sicne then. 6 days ago I wrote him an e-mail telling him about my mother who's got cancer. The next day I got his reply trying to offer me some advice. I asked if I could write him more about my mother's condition, and he wrote back day before yesterday telling me that I can write him more if it makes me feel better. I think it's really nice of him to show me concerns and to listen to me. I'd like to ask what you think of this guy. Is he just being nice? Thanks a lot.

It's easy to emotionally commit to someone online. Beware of the lack of personality that it provides. Tread carefully.

Seems a bit too nice. He may have some skeleton's. In his closet. That you wish you hadn't discovered. Just be careful. A person can tell you anything. On the phone. Or the computer. There is a ulterior motive behind the overwhelming "niceness".

If you don't even know what he looks like there is no way you can talk to him about personal stuff. I would probley tell him little bits and peices but I wouldn't tell him like every little emotion that is going on inside you.
