OK, I see a lot of people around with banners that say "Support Our Troops". I believe in that and I believe in them. I'm wondering though, why some people who want to end the war and bring the troops home are being accused of not supporting the troops. Which is more supportive: To keep them in a civil war where a few more die every day, or to bring them home?

CJ, I see your point. I wonder,, though, in this type of fighting, if that would be counter productive because the enemy are such cowards that haide behind car bombs and civilians. If you take the gloves off and really start laying into them (and I'm not necessarily against it) wouldn't that make more enemies if we start killing large amounts of civilians along with the combatants?

The issue lies with letting them finish their mission. If you bring them home before that mission is accomplished, then all who died or were wounded would have done so in vain.

The government needs to loosen the restrictions on rules of engagement over there. That is one of the #1 complaints of soldiers in that theater of operations. When you "handcuff" the troops, they are merely becoming police officers and referees, and not there doing what they are trained to do, be combat soldiers. When you initiate a war, you must let your soldiers kill the enemy. That is the purpose of war. When you tie the hands of your soldiers and make them into social workers, you are allowing the enemy to strengthen and to attack you. This is what is happening now.

I firmly believe in letting the soldiers do the job that they were trained to do. Let them annihilate the enemy and complete their mission. And when that has been accomplished, then bring them home to a heroes welcome.

The war should be ended because our soldiers were put in a no win situation! This sad excuse of a government doesn't know the first thing about running a country much less a war.
The troops should have been brought home after it was realized that they were not going to catch the one responsible for September 11 but, no not these smart and wise leaders when they realized they weren't going to catch the one responsible they went after the next in line. Never mind the fact he had nothing to do with the attack on New York. Bush might as well change his name to Hitler. their death toll isn't to far off.

Sunnis killing Shiites
Shiites killing Sunnis
Alkaeda killing Shiites and Sunnis just to keep them fighting.
Our soldiers getting killed by Shiites, Sunnis, and Alkaeda because they are trying to keep them from killing each other.
I figure after about one or three tours of duty in that happy horse shi$ all those “ Isupport the troops" ribbons start to look more like band aids for gas guzzling guilt than any true empathy for the boot’s on the ground stuck with the possibility of yet another bloody tour for the sake of Babylon.

That's the problem that we facing in America today for either side it's okay
for one to have freedom of speech but
not the other and things all started by the
the leadership by calling anyone who disagree with their policy (Un-American)
and the funny thing ,it just happen that all
or most the war supporters never serve
or knew what's like to be in a war !!
they support the war...why not ?
they're sitting on their A*s and making
millions of $$$$$$$ and somebody
else is dying.....What A shame !!!!!!!!!!

If we pullout of Iraq the muslim world will see the United States as weak. At that point they will begin hitting our country again and won't stop until they take over the USA and then it's on to the rest of the world!

Those who want to bring the troops home are being accused of being unsupportive because these people don't agree with the war. Since the war and U.S. military involvement are still voluntary, whatever troops we have stationed in Iraq are there because they WANT to be. They believe that what they are doing is the right thing to do. Everyone who wants to bring them home is, essentially, telling them that they are wrong for wanting to be there. That's how they're coming across as unsupportive.

I've got a friend in Iraq right now. Sure, it would be all too awesome for him to return safely home (and that's what we're all praying for), but if he dies in combat, you won't see me shedding a single tear at his funeral because he died doing what he believed in.

I think they should be brought home! What is the point of this war. I really do not things are going to get any better over there regardless of our prescence there. That does not mean that I do not support them, I just do not support the war.
