Star question!!
I agree with the subtle point you make ... that grown ups can't be quite innocent. However, I suspect 'innocence' is not quite desirable in this crooked cut-throat competition world.

Nevertheless, something inside me tells me that the truly innocent can't lose after all!! Their innocence would never let them feel unhappy for any sustained period of time. The innocent are indeed the blessed ones.

I think that innocence would be a non-existing thing, in the respect that it is a "negative space" - Innocence, in the "childlike" context, I consider to be a knowledge not realised yet,
a knowledge the individual do not have yet,
a knowledge that has not tainted the thoughts of those who do not know yet.

Childhood, the age of pure innocence. You believe everything, accept everything and have no prejudices.

Prejudices are learnt behaviours, if we stopped exhibiting them, the world would be a more tolerant place as the children wouldn't learn them.

My 5yr old son writing his letter to Father Christmas, or believing in the Tooth Fairy, or the naivety of beliving that everybody is nice. However, as an adult, I'm probably the last one qualified to answer.

Innocence is the state of not knowing something and I think of nothing more sophisticated then that. I don't understand your latter statement

There is a saying innocence is ignorance.I think it refers to a child who is not responsible for his/her actions. Also it means sinless. They have not yet experienced the corruption of the world.

Everybody is innocent - even a murderer , that is why he had commited a murder . If he is a thinker with strong mind he won't commit any wrong doings .
