your playing a movie you downlaoded or you are actually inserting a dvd disc with a movie on it into your pc?

if its the later one, then maybe the disc is dirty and is freezing as it sometimes does (from my experience) in a dvd player

you can clean a dvd/cd in place of proper cleaner using warm soapy water , rinse well, then air dry

Your computer may be overheating. If it's a laptop then that is usually the culprit. If you do watch a movie on a laptop then make sure you leave plenty of space underneath the computer to allow airflow. If it's a desktop then you might be having problems with dvd software installed. Check online for any updates that you missed regarding your software.
