when they dont have real tears, they dont pee as often and there mouth is dry. and also when there eyes are sunken in and the child wont be active. my son had a rota virus which is a bad stomach flu and he was dehydrated so bad he had to go the ER.

When you notice you're not changing pee pee diapers as frequent as usual. And giving water would depend on the baby's age. Otherwise put a call in to the ped.

if you are breast feeding or fomula its not ok untill two and a half / three months or the electrolyes and minerals that your baby needs will get out of wack. you baby should get all the nutrition that he/she needs from the fomula or breastmilk. I could answer you question better if i knew how old the baby was.

pinch the skin (lightly). if it doesn't snap back quick, then give the baby liquids.

They maybe dehydrated if they are sick (diarriah or vomiting), or haven't hardly wet. Usually it's recommended to give them pedialite because it contains electrolytes.
