Now I understand its unlikley , my question is if there was a Civil War in America and the people were able to defeat the local police , S.W.A.T. teams and evetnually the National Guard , What do you think would be the Governments response to end it ?

COnstitutionally, I don't think they could use the Army, but I saw an episode of 24 that the president was allowed to use the Navy. I'm not sure they researched if it is legal. THe thing is if people actually was about to overthrow the government, I don't think the President of the time cares about breaking the Constitution.

Martial law would be implemented before that happened. The only way a reveloution could take place is if parts of the country declared itself independent from the united states, set up their own goverment and began to govern themselves. But remember The Freemen , they were put down when they tried it an the national guard was used. It would be bad for the world if this ever happens.
I f you are not happy with the goverement vote . Pass it along one term and out then maybe they will get the message

Well you just said that "the people were able to defeat the local police , S.W.A.T. teams and evetnually (eventually) the National Guard", if the government was defeated I guess they wouldn't have a response because there would be no government. Try rephrasing your question.

The government would wait until the police and National Guard are defeated before it reacts. There would be something preemptive about it. You would probably start seeing "insurgents" disappear and more people being detained.
I think they will stop any fight prior to all out war.

If enough armed people rose up, under the current administration, the President would recall the military from Iraq and deploy it in the US to stop the rebellion.
Same thing most Presidents would do.
Which is why armed revolt won't work.

martial law would enter into it way before it got past the national guard.under martial law,it could come down to violaters being shot,and after the first households were dipatched in this manner,I'm sure things would come to order
