Because it's just people being biased.
Killers have generally been known to be the "quiet, shy, keep to themselves" kind of people...for example Jeffrey Dahmer.
It's kind of how gothic people are considered depressed and middle eastern people are considered terrorists.
All labels.

It depends who is saying it. Maybe the person that says it is just trying to make drama. Do you have mood swings? If your a big guy maybe people are just afraid of the fact that you could hurt them. I think a lot of it is people watch too much CSI and stereotype who a killer is. The way people think changes so much during school. Just wait till people find out Mary slept with Tommy then you will be old news.

I have an identical problem. I'm quiet, primarily because I'm in a class full of hard-knocks. I take a lot of flack for being voluntarily smart, so I stopped talking back to these kids a while ago. Now the big joke is that I'm going to come and shoot the school The Cute.
The way I see it, this is just their way of ridiculing something as threatening as a smart girl. They just don't like it. These guys that I'm stuck with for another quarter are pretty slimey characters, they generally associate purely with the blonde stereotypes at our school. Heaven forbid they have to deal with a brunette intellectual.
You're probably dealing with this because they can't get enough information out of you in order to comfortably lable you. Outside of the way you dress, you really don't clarify who you are to these kids, and they take offense that you aren't participating in their little caste system.

Because EVERY TV show and movie screams at the public "SHY PEOPLE ARE EVIL!!!!!!!!" Everyone's afraid that every shy person in the world is going to turn into another Ed Gein or something.
That's why you need to talk about anything that passes through your mind, so that the worst people will think of you is that you're just a little eccentric. :P

People said the same thing about me when I was in school. Its always the quite one.. well maybe its always the quite ones because the ones who talk get caught before they can do anything. But the reason why is they say it to see how you'll react. Just smile and walk away quitely.

People are mirrors. They see what they are afraid to be but don't want to acknowledge. These kids at school probably are very fearful people and they are scared of people they don't know or can't understand.
Don't mind them. Focus instead on finding what interests you, and you'll start meeting people who share the same passion. If you're not focused on yourself or what others think of you, you will overcome your shyness and be quite popular.

If all shy kids your age were killers, we'd have dead kids all over the country. I know it's tough to take, but if you can, let it just roll off your back or find out who is telling these rumors and set them straight.

Don't worry about what others think. As long as you know yourself, don't let it bother you. I was shy as a kid too you but now am far from it. A few years from now, you'll look back and wonder why you even cared what other kids said about you.

Maybe you are always frowning and sooooo aloof to the kids. Try to reach out to them and always bear a smile whenever you come across with them.
