depends on how much.

If it is not a lot, like a thermometer full, then a bulb syringe should do. If it is a lot, you might want to contact a poison contol center.

Mercury is highly toxic, so I do not recommend handling it in any way unless you are well educated in the dangers and methods of handling.

Mercury evaporates and the vapor can be harmful. Do not use a vacuum cleaner, whatever you do, unless it is designed for cleaning chemical spills.

There are specific mercury spills kits which contain a special sponge which absorbs the mercury. This is sufficient for spills from a thermometer.
