This question was asked at least 5 times before. Here are the best answers choosen earlier:
1. Answered by JAYCUBB 6 months ago: That's like asking: Since I'm descended from my great-grandfather, why do I have cousins?
Evolutionary theory DOES NOT SAY MAN CAME FROM MONKEYS. It says man and apes share a common ancestor.
Why does this bogus piece of crap keep coming up?
Edited to add: I saw the second part of your question. Perhaps I didn't phrase it correctly, but I was agreeing with you, and asking WHY people have such a convoluted notion of evolution. I certainly didn't mean to offend YOU.
I tend to agree with JAycubb myself!
2. Answered by Squeaky (?) 11 months ago: You know....if these idiots want to believe that we descended from apes, let them cause my grandparents sure weren't monkeys!!!! Even if I thought they might be...I sure wouldn't admit it!!!
This answer is questionable, but this is who got the points!
3. Answered by Endora 3 months ago: how many people won't notice your name and get that this is a joke?
If this is your case, too, I'll start laughing now! It is an old joke, though!
4. Answered by Richard 2 weeks ago: f humans came from dirt, why is ther still dirt?
hmm, maybe you are on to something, except, i frequently scratch my butt. you think, maybe i got worms?
i love questions like yours, they are like a test to see how many times people will dogmatically answer the same question. the pulse of thought around here seems to be non-existent sometimes.
So, anyway, you can try the excercise yourself, just look for old answers and pick and choose what you like.

Because not all monkeys were stupid enough to become humans and destroy the nature! Read a little bit about evolution and then question it! We did not come from monkeys! We have a common ancestor with apes and apes are not monkeys. In biology different species can evolve from a common ancestor.

Search for "Still Monkeys" - 829 Q
Search for "Still Monkies" - another 14 Q; not everyone can spell.
Search for "Still apes" - 445 Q
Here's something to think about:
Because they evolved from our common ancestor too. We humans got smarter. The great apes, including chimpanzees, got stronger. They are stronger than us humans. (A 180-pound chimp would wipe the floor with a 180-pound human, even a college wrestler.) I don't expect you to believe that, but if you try hard enough you can understand it.
Here is a little something extra for you, what the Cajuns call "lagniappe", like the free cookie the baker gives the kids when Mom buys a big birthday cake:
Back in 1776, monarchists (Monarchists are people who want to be ruled by a king or queen, not butterfly fanciers.) argued against democracy as a form of government. They said it was absurd to believe that "All men are created equal" because anyone could see men came in different heights, weights and colors. Case closed.
My point is not about democracy. It is about debate. Before you argue about something, you should understand it. If you don't understand it, you'll look foolish. One night on the "Saturday Night Live" TV show, Gilda Radner argued vehemently against the "Deaf Penalty", instead of the "Death Penalty". She looked absurd and we all laughed until the beer came out our noses, which was what she wanted. You don't want people to laugh at you.
In a serious debate, you should understand the other side. Note that I didn't say "Believe". Understanding is not the same as believing. If you were to study 20th century European Political history, you would have to understand several forms of government: communism (the USSR), fascism (Germany, Italy), socialism (Lots of countries), socialist democracy, capitalistic democracy and constitutional monarchy. You would not believe in all of them; you COULD not believe in all of them at once. If you tried, your head would explode. You would, however, have to understand their basic concepts.
If you were to study comparative religion, you would have to understand what Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, Taoists and Confucians believe. You would not have to convert to a new religion every week, but you would have to understand the other ones. You would not get very far in your studies if you dismissed all the other ones as "wrong". They believe their path is the right one just as strongly as you believe your path is the right one.
99% of the biologists alive today believe that species evolve, and that the theory of evolution is the best explanation we have for the diversity of life. Christian biologists, Jewish biologists, Muslim biologists, Hindu biologists, Buddhist biologists; Australian, Bolivian and Chinese biologists; 99% of them believe it is the best explanation. Yes, it is only a theory. Planetary motion - the theory that the earth went around the sun, not vice versa - was only a theory for a long time. Some people still don't believe it.
Your question has been answered, hundreds of times, by people more versed in biology than I. It gets answered ever week here at YA.
If you are truly curious, ask your minister to give you a short, reasoned explanation of evolution. Tell him you don't want to believe it, of course; you just want to understand it. If he says he can't because it is wrong, he is as ignorant as those monarchists I mentioned above.
By the way, this question gets asked so often that some answerers have made a drinking game of it - much like the TV show "Frasier", when Frasier, Niles and Martin all watched "Antiques Road Show" together. In the episode, every time someone said "veneer" they would all take a drink; Niles and Frasier of a premier crux, Martin of Raineer Ale. You may get some answers that say "Swig" or "Gulp" or "Thanks for the excuse to drink". That's what they mean. If you do a search on "still monkies" and "still monkeys" you'll get roughly 2 - 3 per day since YA started.

see it is the role of evolution... we all know that all the eukaryotes came from the evolution of prokaryotes... but that does not mean that the prokaryotes do not exist today... we know bacteria of many forms still exist and we also know their role in the eco system... ! according to the principles of evolution there are 2 aspects one is evolving and the second is extinction... ! if humans evolved from monkeys then the reason for evolution was to find a better being to adapt to the conditions existing then... but that didnt mean that the condiions were too harsh for the monkeys to get extinct... ! so even though the humans evolved from monkeys it didnt mean that monkeys were extinct... ! if a species has to be completely wiped out of this planet then that condition is called extinction where not a single being of the species is alive... and if it is alive then it wil reproduce to form progeny which will ultimately forn the basis of their further existance... !

Humans descended from apes which are roughly tail less monkeys. We did not evolve from monkeys but from a common ancestor which also fathered the chimps and the gorillas.
Also, animals and humans are still evolving. Thanks to the widespread destruction caused by man, many species have been wiped out.

Here's an analogy that might help answer that question:
"If you ancestors came from England (assuming you're American or some other nationality), why are some of your cousins still British?"
P.S. Sorry, I used England and British just as an example... (The British are not monkeys...)

Modern monkeys and humans both share a common ancestor. Evolution is a very slow process by which the organisms that are best equipped to survive in their evironment live on to create offspring. One theory which answers your question is that our common ancestor spead out and inhabited different regions. The following evolutionary paths were taken from the common ancestor:
>Monkeys. Lived in a warm region with plenty of food redily available. there was no need for major physiological modifications because they were well equipped to survive in their environment. (Big teeth for chewing nuts, long arms for climbing trees, fur to protect skin, etc.
>Humans. Our ancestors lived in colder regions. With less food. There was a need for change in order to survive in the environment. Slowly they learned to hunt more efficiently. They learned to make clothing to protect against cold. They learned to make primitive tools to help them do all of this. They learned to rely on shelter. Through millions of years of this, we changed. We used our brain more, so it grew and became more complex. We used thumbs more so they changed slowly to what they are today. We weren't climbing trees so our arms shrank. We were wearing clothes so the body saw no need to have as much fur. And you get the rest.

You are brilliant!! You should be teaching creationist biology in high school. God's intelligence in design was not wasted on you, brother!!!!
Not that this question has ever been asked before.
Not that even young earth creationists with half of a brain (Those with a full brain would be evolutionists) haven't considered this question on its merits and found it unworthy of being offered.

I'm sure that all of those guys and gals that have wasted decades in higher education to study the topic of evolutionary biology are really feeling stupid now, after reading your brilliant rebuttal.
Give yourself a pat on the back, but try not to pull your head out of that dark, safe place as you do that.
