most likely you have 64mb of shared memory dedicated to video so windows xp isn't displaying this memory as conventional memory, 192mb+64mb=256mb,if you have an empty memory slot id recommend adding another 256 to it, that will not cost to much and will boost performance quite a bit, allowing you to play some of your games. 192mb doesn't do so well with windows xp, and allot of the new games really need more then 512mb and a strong video card added to play.

Actually some memory of your RAM is shared in video memory in winXP. Video memory is required to play games and visual effects for yor computer. You can increase or decrease RAM by changing settings in BIOS setup it can be done by pressing F1 or DEL key when you turn on your computer

The only way to increase your computers memory is to upgrade the Ram. (Random Access Memory)

To learn how to install your Ram go to HowStuffWorks.com.
Go to Computers-Hardware-Adding Ram.

You might be able to play your video games by cleaning your hard-drive aka. Freeing up disk space.
You will need to use the disk clean up utility.
Go to start - run -(type) cleanmgr

*If your really want to maximize your computers Ram you will need to switch from Dynamic Ram which your computer uses now to the more expensive Static Ram. Or you can simply upgrade. I suggest you clean the hard drive using disk clean up first.

dont worry windows cant read hardware that well. that why it says that. go to RUN type dxdiag it will say the same. ram doubles so 32 then 64, 128,256,512,1024(gig) the only way you can increase it is buy buying more ram. Go to crucial.com see what type of ram u have.

64MB is being used for your video. 256MB RAM is pretty small for XP, especially if you're doing gaming. Go to or and let them scan your computer to find out exactly what RAM you need.
