different ones have different purposes.
its really good to exfoliate your face with a face mask/exfoliater. there are purifying ones that will cleanse your skin and pull out blackheads, whiteheads, and reduce pimples. if you have acne their are acne treatment ones; whenever you see a mask with acid, thats for acne and will help clear all that stuff up.

a facial mask can clean out your pores and detoxify your skin it also takes off your dead layer of skin!
but how deep can it go? not very deep.
but good enough to make your complexion sparkle!

um mine exfoliates the pores in my skin so it gets all the grime the cleanser doesn't I think
