North Scottsdale, and to the east - Fountain Hills are very nice areas....I lived at 96th Street and Shea for two years and loved it.....great area with great outdoor activities, friendly people, low crime, great shopping....only downside is its pricey

Great area, relatively low crime. Like the others said, priciness may be a downside, but it is worth it for the piece of mind knowing that you will not have a break in or get mugged. That is a risk you run in the less expensive areas. I lived in Mesa for a number of years and was victimized by crime a few times, but when I lived in North Scottsdale I never had a run in.

I live in North Scottsdale, and I think that area is nice, but the areas west of it are even nicer.
