THIS WORKS!!!!!!
This time 6 months ago, I owed $11,000 on my vehicle and had $6000 in credit card debt. I started living like a poor college student again. Cancel your cabel, go to the most basic cell phone plan, DON't EAT OUT, cook. When you go to the store buy all off brands, they're just as good as the brand name stuff. Don't go out, just stay home and read or play games on the computer. Buy only what you need to survive.
I put myself on a strict budget and NEVER used plastic, not even my debit card. Since then, I have been paying my truck payment like normal and have got my credit card debt down to $500.
After you got your debt payed off, call the credit card company and ask for a lower rate (tell them you'll let the balance set at $0 until they lower it.
Use the credit card for emergencies, or big purchases which will out live the amount of time you'll pay interest on it. (If you buy groceries with the credit card, you will be paying interest on them until you pay off the entire amount. The groceries will be gon in a week, but you will spend 4 weeks paying for them.)

I have, I found one low-interest loan that I used to pay off others, and now I'm finishing that one off, because it was manageable. I still have my cards, all at $0 balance and with interest rates down to about 8% - 13%, I'm waiting until they're down to under 6% or so before I use them for anything big, although I don't even need them anymore, really. Right now I don't want to cancel any of them, because that bumps the credit score a bit, too, but I'll just dump the ones that don't give me 5% or less a year from now.

I'm starting to pay my credit card by making payments more than once a month and giving up, for a while, the luxuries in life. No latte, no new clothes, no new shoes...etc.

debt is slavery. you can consolidate all your debt into one loan. make it a habit to use cash to make purchases and save your credit cards for things like airline tickets or rental cars.

Don't dig yourself in too deeply.
If you do, then most people need help -- usually a consildation loan -- to start digging out. And those people must be careful not to dig themselves right back under again.
