It seems to have a yellow fuzz on its head and is very lethargic...my tank doesn't have a heater..Should I get beta medicine or a heater?

Yes you do need a heater, Betta's need a water temp of at least 72 and closer to 80 degrees is better, and you need to start treating it for velvet right now. The Heater is the most important thing right now though.

Does the filter out supply any floor agitation? If it would not there would possibly no longer be adequate oxygen in the water for the fish. try shifting the filter out so as that the water it pumps out falls onto the exterior - you will see greater bubbles in the water. Did you enable the tank cycle till now including the fish (Google biking fish tanks...)? you will possibly even have needed to handle the water with a chlorine therapy in case you used faucet water. even with all of this bettas can in many circumstances be sluggish shifting fish so don't be too alarmed with the help of his loss of circulation...

I have heard that if the temp of the water is too cold that betta's will "play dead". Mine does that too though and a couple of times I thought it was actually dead.

how warm is the water?
and put some salt in his tank
not any salt thw aquarium salt
it should help the fish out a bit

you should probably get a small filter and a thermometer to check the temp. and try feeding him some cooked shell less peas.

do u have a another betta? if so it;s freaked out and will go pale other than that watch that fish see what happens if it gets worse do tha toilet thing
