This is rediculous, im 16 years old and ive been working at Cool River Pizza for over 8 monthes but yet have never gotten a raise. When i asked about it they had told me that because minimum wage went up, that counts as my raise. This isnt fair is it?

employers give raises based on merit. you EARN a raise.

I think your boss just told you you're not working hard enough and don't deserve a raise. What isn't fair is that you're not working hard enough to earn $7.25 an hour but think you deserve it, why, just because?

No that's not fair. But life isn't fair.

Look at it from their point of view.
If you quit, can they replace you with somebody that'll do the same work for the same money. Why would they give you a raise just because you've been there for 8 months. Do you do any more work? Do you run the place if they leave? Can they or do they trust you?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you want a raise in this day and age you need to show them that you're worth it. Do everything they need you to do, before they need to ask you to do it. Show them that you are not replaceable. Start doing the stuff that they usually do, to the point that they get used to not doing it. Learn all the ins and outs of running the place yourself that you can. It may take a bit but once you can do everything and it'll actually "hurt" them if you quit, you'll be able to ask or if you've learned it all you can demand a raise or quit.

Then if you've learned everything and if you want to hurt them even more, start you're own pizza place and steal their customers.

Because this go to school and get a good job and you'll be happy is a bunch of bull. Owning you're own business is much better.
