Are spaniards hispanics or whites?

I have light skin and blue eyes,but here in USA i am a hispanic race because i speak spanish.People tell me that if i don,t speak,i look white,but for my accent,they say ah! you are not white.It hink is very stupid classified hispanic as a race,i don,t get it

Spainiards are White and Hispanic. Hispanic is not a race it simply means anyone with origins from Spanish speaking countries. So they are White Hispanics. I think how the U.S. classifies race is so stupid because they classify Hispanic/Latino as being a race when it isn't.

Yeah I agree that it is stupid to classify hispanics as a race but hey thats how it is. I guess one can tell based on your phenotype and how well your physical characteristacs best fits the race in question. It is a bit complicated, but I think most spaniards look white.

It depends. Ones ancestors may have been raised in a Spanish speaking country, but have their original origins in Anglo Saxon Europe. Thus, the family will share the same language and culture with the dark people native to Spain, South America, etc, but look "white". Also, most hispanics are intermixed.

I would say you could call yourself Hispanic *if* that is what you identify with. If not, you could also be considered a "white" person who just happens to speak Spanish. Many Hispanics are also considered "white". It's really up to you, and what your background really is. It really doesn't matter, unless you are curious about where you came from.

Either way, be yourself and be proud.

There are so many stupid people out there. Don't let their uneducated opinions affect you. Spainards are European so they are whites. Spainards speak Spainish so they are hispanics. Simple as that.

I totally agree with you. People are just plain dumb (not all, but unfortunately a lot are). Plus, it seems that the majority of the people that "talk" are almost the ones that know absolutely nothing.
