When I was a tot and dinosaurs roamed freely, I can remember an instrumental that was the theme song of one of the major network's morning news shows. It was sort of slow, soothing, and I believe it was primarily a dulcimer. I would also like to think the name of the show was "Monday Morning" (or whichever day of the week it was), and was later changed to simply "Morning". This would have been in the 70's or maybe early 80's, but more likely mid 70's. I know I didn't dream it up, because I was in Hobby Lobby the other day and heard it playing overhead. I listened, mesmerized, and to the absolute embarrassment of my teenage daughter asked around, but no one could tell me the name of the song. PLEASE, someone, help this addled old middle aged brain.

I am sorry that I do not know the tune you seek. I write merely to convey a simular story which might comfort you in your search. ( I was born in the middle of the 20th Century so I can relate to "pre-history" as it is known to these young'uns)

Anyway, when I was around 9 or 10, I used to hear this classical-like bit of music during intermissions on our local PBS station. I used to wait, watching for a clue as to what the tune was as it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard. It never materialized. There were no credits. Soon, with the onset of puberty and those difficult teen years, the tune was forgotten. It was also a hard tune to replicate, and so a hard tune to ask about.

That is until I would hear another little bit of it. Then the thing would haunt me for days. In those days I could not think of a single resource I could call upon to answer this question. For the next 40-years I indured this.

Well, about 7-weeks ago I decided I would try to track down this tune in earnest. I have an account with eMusic and started to search it out. I remembered it as being played on a flute so I began with that. I had been collecting a fair amount of music, some of it classical, and I had been doing some reading about the Late Classical and Early Romantic periods (I really like Beethoven and Schubert) so I decided it was later than the Romantic period and narrowed it down to the Modern period.

From that point it became a matter of sampling tracks until something sounded familiar. I thought it was going to take weeks, if not longer, to find what I was seeking. Well, imagine my surprise and my elation when I found it in about an hour and a half. Internet Rules! It was "Gymnopedies #1", by Erik Satie from around 1910.

Shortly after the thrill died down, I remembered that Blood, Sweat, And Tears had done something that had "Satie" in the title. I looked that up on the internet and found that tune. Apparently I failed to make the connection sometime in my early teens. I remember listening to it back in the '70's but I think I didn't care for it because it was really different than the rest of the LP.

So, take heart. The answer may just be around the corner.

Oh great! Now it's stuck in my head too! I can't help with the answer. I would suggest writing to Hobby Lobby corp since most chains have their in store music decided by corp. Make sure to give them the date and time, perhaps they can tell you which tape it was and give you a list of music on it?

Good luck, HTH, and great question LOL

I think it was Fleetwood Mac - I looked it up. You started my curiosity, too. Hope the following link helps you ("source").
