I have a cox dvr and a tv that can display everything from 480i to 1080p, I was wondering if there was anyway in getting rid of the sidebars on the side making the 720p picture a 16:9 insted of 4:3 its really annoying having to upconvert it to only 480p, I'd like to have it as 720p? Anyone know how to stretch the 4:3 image to 16:9

I have had the same problem. You have to put it to the settings you want on your TV and COX cable box. There is button on your original COX remote that saids switch views. If not, then go to settings through the cox remote and say "Stretch" "Zoom1" "Normal" something like that.
