Silk screening is the best way. You can make your own silk screen and cut a design form acetate and print just a few or a whole bunch. There is also solar film so the design is transferred by sunlight. Check out some craft stores and art stores. Here's a link:

I think Michael's carries some supplies too. It's a lot of fun and there are tons of things you can print for fun or for money once you have the basic supplies!

Crafts stores (like Michael's) have all the things you need to do this. They will probably have a class in it, too.

You can make a design on your computer and using a special paper, print it out, then permanently iron that on.

Or you could find a design you like and paint it on using fabric paint. There are several types, so go take a look, and see what you like best. Or, try them all. It's a heck of a lot of fun.

You can also use a site at www.cafepress.com. You juast upload your designs and pick your shirt (or any of the hundreds of other items they have), they print it and send it to you. I used them all the time and they are great---great quality, too!
