he quit and has never been back.
anyone know why?

There was some tension between him and his other cast members when he was in the cast. I guess it brings back some not so fond memories. One thing that made things awkward was when he was the host while he was still a cast member. This displeased the other cast members.

He said the show was terrible, and Lorne Michaels has made a fortune from selling content with Eddie Murphy as talent. The players made under 100K a year until the mid-90s.

SNL is a terrible job, but just a way to get a break.

Eddie Murphy made 48 hours in 1982, and his life completely changed. He came back briefly to SNL after that and moved on.

But SNL is beneath Eddie Murphy. He had every right to leave.

to move on with his career..SNL is just a jump start to careers...they all move on...or OD and die

I dont know. He was funny but has gone downhill since.
