Deer population is being displaced in our area because of the amount of home building. I love chipmunks but they keep taking my gladiolias.

I see rhodedendron growing wild in the forests, so deer must not care to munch on those.

There are some products available to make your plants less tempting, but you have to reapply after every rain.

deer and chipmunk do not like to odor of green deodorant type soaps. they are usually available at the dollar store for a couple of dollars for a couple of bars...I take a potato peeler and i start about 10 feet from whatever plants I am trying to protect and i shave the soap all over the ground up to the garden...if you dont do it far enough out they will already get a good smell of your plants and the soap wont stop them but if you give them a good distance that they ahve to walk thru to get to the plants they wont pass through....after it rains you will have to treat again or if it is in the grass where you mow you may have to do there too...fruit trees are effectively saved from deer with the same type of smelly deodorant soaps by hanging cut up bars of the soap through out the branches of the tree starting with the outside and it doesnt hurt to put the shavings there too....it is not enough tohurt anything

They don't like daffodils either but they (and irises and glads) are bulbs. Were you asking about bulbs or perennials?
