I have never tried this ever! and it just started like 3 days ago and my hands are always far from the touch pad of my laptop thats why it amazes me when i am typing and the cursor goes to another word thus, mixing the words up! I hate this, I type pretty fast and i cant seem to get things done since it keeps on moving everywhere. Like in this sentence, suddenly it jumps to the first sentence above... What is wrong???????/ Please help me i got a paper to finish this weekend that needs to be submitted this Tuesday morning... HELP!!!!

as i said, my hands are way far from the touch pad and it still jumps, which i dont know why since this has never happened to me before, it alll started 4 days ago and i dont know why... is there a way to turn off the touch pad??? or to make its sensitivity less??? i have an HP laptop and its an XP

It happens to me too and I have found that when I type I accidentally hit the touch bad especially when accessing the space bar or the lower keys on the keyboard. What I did was turn of the touchpad tapping for clicks in the control panel under mouse. You could also get an external mouse and completely disable the touchpad.
