A tangent...? You wind up somewhere else and have to trace the conversation back to the place where you diverged from the customary arc of the circle into related topics. Once looking back you find that many things link tangentially, and you start to ponder the interrelatedness of life, the universe, and everything. This, of course (in a Freudian vein) reminds you of your childhood when your father forgot to slather you with sunscreen, and your cheekbones (indeed! your entire face!) became as red as a beet. You recall that the skin (as it peeled so fascinatingly from your face) often came off in a rather roundish shape... and that reminded you (in turn) of something else... now what was it...?!

how come when your parents said they were gonna tan your a**, it always ended up red. I thought tans were brown.
