Shave the area to be pierced, this helps to keep it clean during the healing period.
Anagelsic creams are avaiable at the chemist, this will help in aneathetising the area.
Alternatively, wrap some ice in a dish cloth, and hold it on the area to be pierced, this will help numb the area.
Do not use ice that is not wrapped in something, as you can get frostbite.
A sail-makers needle is curved, relatively broad and very sharp. Also easy to hold. Boil the needle in salt water to clean and sanatise.
Do not under estimate the power of the mind. Just dont think about it, dont tense up, just relax and dont watch.
Have an awesome day,

How approximately you shop up some money, circulate to a consultant in some years, and don't do some thing as naively idiotic as piercing your self. in case you have been an approved piercer, must be a distinctive tale. yet you're for sure some 13 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old new child desirous to get a piercing achieved when you consider which you think of it is "cool". Or hell, perhaps you in basic terms prefer to tick mommy and daddy off. till you're mentally mature adequate to understand that obtaining it achieved by a consultant is the only risk-free way of going approximately this, then you definately should not be getting it pierced.

Make sure you have some Ice in the freezer to
numb the area before piercing and to put on
afterwards as it may hurt for a while.!
Make sure all your equipment is Thoroughly washed
and sterilised because doing piercings yourself
can often end up infected, resulting in having to
take out the piecing for it to properly heal..
Think your decision through first, Perhaps having
a professional do it rather than ya best friend is
the way to go..
If your over 18 and you drink, I would have a few
glasses of Wine or a few shots of vodka if you
are a bit squeamish about pain..!!..Haha!!
Good Luck.!:)

1. Due to the risk of infection, why are you doing it yourself?
2. No one really should give any medical tips (advise) other than your Dr.
3. It hurts :-( my advise, go get it done, save up the money. They have the right tools and are responsible if something goes wrong. They will try to prevent any infection. They have to use a pretty thick needle for the naval, unlike ears etc; (ouch! I can still feel the pain!)

For a Naval piercing, you might want to try purchasing some old Exocet missiles on the black market. Ask Argentina if they've got any leftovers they want to get rid of.

Use clean implements and an ice cube to freeze the area. Keep it clean with rubbing alcohol after wards and use real gold jewelry.
