I just had a blind date and the guy was really nice.
Only problem, he's not at all my type or what I'm looking for. What's the best way to tell him I'm not interested while stopping him from getting really really hurt and offended?
I'll prolly tell him over email and suggest that we'd be much better as friends (he'd still be fun to go out dancing with or grab a coffee with as friends). Yeesh, did I just answer my own question?
I appreciate your input guys,
Thanks,

Be polite. Be honest and above everything else, be totally clear in what you want and feel. Beating around the bush serves no purpose for the other side. It is selfish actually because most people, while trying to soften the blow, are just making it easier for themselves. A cop out, so to speak. Honestly will get you respect each time.

Yeah, I would use the friend line myself. Only thing is that if you do say "friends", follow up on it, ok? If you really want nothing to do with the guy even as frends. Just tell him that it can't work for you, and tell him good luck. He'll respect you more for it and you'll respect yourself as well. It would be better than letting him get the wrong idea, becaiuse it'll hurt more further on down the line.
Take care. Good Luck. Rob

The most important thing is to just be honest. I know from personal experience that the tendency is to put the blame on oneself, and if you think that would facilitate his moving on by all means employ that. Just make sure that he understands that no relationship beyond what you propose is possible.

definitely tell him before he gets too attached to you. I think in e-mail would be fine since you hardly know each other. If you were long-time lovers then well I'd be offended by the e-mail.
Good luck!
