I am being harassed by my ex-husband who I am truly fearful that could hurt me ... he is on several drugs. I have a restaining order against him, the police are involved, I need to protect myself and need help ... desperately! I have a TREO 650 through Verizon Wireless. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can record the conversations? The police cannot do much without proof and I am so afraid. Any recommendations that can get me a recorder would be appreciated ... bless those who answer. Ally

I HAVE AN LG W SPEAKER AND THERE'S A BUTTON ON ONE SIDE THAT YOU CAN PUSH AT THE SAME TIME AS THE SPEAKER BUTTON AND IT RECORDS. I'VE DONE IT SEVERAL TIMES BY ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, WHEN I PLAYED IT BACK I COULDN'T HEAR MYSELF, ONLY THE OTHER PERSON. IT SOUNDED LIKE THEY WERE TALKING TO THEMSELVES. ALSO, ABOUT RECORDED TELEPHONE CALLS, IT DEPENDS ON YOUR STATE. I LIVE IN TX, AND ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS MAKE THE PERSON STATE THEIR NAME--IE--WHO IS THIS? IS THIS JOHN SMITH? ETC. AND ALSO STATE YOUR OWN NAME. I DONT KNOW HOW TO WORK IT IN THERE, BUT IM SURE YOU CAN. DO BOTH OF THESE THINGS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CALL. CHECK WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. YOU CAN ASK IF THE COPS WOULD TAP YOUR LINE, ALTHOUGH I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT WORKS, EITHER. HOWEVER, YOU CAN REQUEST AN ITEMIZED BILL FROM VERIZON. IT WILL SHOW ALL THE INCOMING/OUTGOING CALLS WITH THE PHONE NUMBER, TIME, DATE, AND LENGTH OF THE CALL, AND WILL PROVE THAT HE'S CALLING YOU. IF IT'S A LOT, MAYBE YOU CAN GET HIM ON THE HARASSMENT FOR EXCESSIVE CALLING, WHICH SHOULD BE A VIOLATION OF THE RESTRAINING ORDER. (IF THERE'S A NO CONTACT OF ANY KIND RULING. IF NOT, CHANGE IT ASAP.) GOOD LUCK SWEETIE, I FEEL FOR YOU.

I'm not sure if You can Legally Record a Telephone Conversation to be used as Evidence. You could set the Phone on SpeakerPhone Mode, and Record the Conversation with a Portable Tape Recorder. If He Notices a Strange Sound, You can tell Him the Phone's Battery is being Recharged, and You don't have an extra Battery. If He's as Stupid as You say He is, He will probably fall for it.But again, I'm not sure if it can be used as Evidence. Call Your Local Domestic Abuse / Battered Women's Center for the Real "Best-Answer" on this Issue. I Hope this all Works out OK for You.

You can go to the TREO 650 website and you will find the instructions there. On my phone all i have to do is go to memo and record during the conversation but I have a sprint phone so it might be different. I hope this helps and becareful be sure to always have someone with you when you go any where.. Good luck

Contact Verizon and explain the situation. Perhaps they have something they can do - some code to send to the handset or something they can do with the network.

Best of luck to you - I was in the same situation myself many years ago, and it can be SCARY. Be careful.

do you have speaker phone on your cell? If you do use a tape recorder and tape it. there are also small recorders that snap on your cell that will record your conversation. I'm not sure where you get them thou, I saw a policeman use one one time trying to get information on a case.
