i bought a used hp it's suppesed to have sound, i've checked in the control panel under sounds it all appears to be there just can't seem to get any sound from my speakers and yes the speakers are fine, any suggestions?

Make sure your audio jack is plugin to the right port of the sound card.

You might have a bad set of keys. Check the device manager to see if there might be drivers missing, ie,midi sequencer,etc.. Also in the start/run, type dxdiag and test all of the sound. Finally go to start/all programs/accessories/system tools/system information and check for problem devices.

Right click My computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>Put in your program to install the name showing you as micromedia player + direct X9

The program every cd coming with the pc
just try on it

Try re-installing the audio or sound board drivers.

some computers nowadays require speakers that self power themselfs --- regular speakers just wont work

Try reinstalling the audio drivers. i guess that should do the trick. :)
