what the heck is the riaa and why would anyone be scared of them. if it has to do with downloading stolen copywrighted matierial i am under the impression that if you dont ask no one will tell.

Good for you. Call it what you want, and argue whether you agree with their practices or not, I see no reason to subject myself to a lawsuit, deserved or otherwise.
