I found that a lot of people don't tie there laces of their shoes anymore. There is one initial tie, and from them on people just slip their shoes on and off. Are weeding this out of common everyday practice?

I wear nurses shoes and tennis shoes, yes, I tie them or I would be tripping over the laces all the time.

I still tie my shoes. I do not, however, untie them to take them off. But, when I pull out my shoes to put them on the next day, I untie them, put them on, and tie them.

I have noticed that as well. Usually people, especially the younger generation, tie their shows as loosely as possible so that they can be slipped on and off easily. I think it is because of the growing sense of laziness that our generation has. It is the same reason there is so much disrespect to our elders. It is also a "fad." It is "in" and "hot" to not tie one's shoes or to tie them so loosely that they almost fall off. A lot of rap artists, rock stars, pop stars, and every other imaginable music artists do this and thus, people imitate what they see their role models doing.

It is a vicious cycle. People see things in the media and imitate it, but the media is giving its audience what they want to see.

So, people today just slip their shoes on and off because it is the popular and cool thing to do.
