I think this novel has long been famed and widely-read since some 35 years ago. In fact, it is definitely a great one on the issue of racism in a rural county in Alabama, USA. It is a must for you and anyone interested in racism conflicts and Atticus, the lawyer, decided to defend his black client wrongly accused of raping a white woman. The hero, Atticus, is white living with two pre-teenage children, Scout and Jem (a girl and a boy). It is even more exciting since the narration is done from Scout's viewpoints and reasons in which there are reasonable but, in some cases, she needs wise advice from her great father. I'd leave the rest for you to explore, it won't be disappointing.

Yeah, nearly everyone has read it. School standard text.
It's a nice book.
BUT ... the book seems to suggest that blacks should wait for nice white people to give them their rights. Well, if so, they'd still be waiting! (I'd like to hear a black person's take on this book.)
AND the plot of the book is plagiarised from Intruder in the Dust by William Faulkner.

I thought it was a good moral book. It has some pretty harsh part to it, but overal it teaches a good lesson. If you go to sparknotes they have complete discussions about the book and a small summary.

well personally, I didn't like the book ( I had to read it for my English class)

I am more into action, adventure, and fantasy kind of book.

But To Kill a Mocking Bird teaches a great moral of life, so it was worth a read plus it's very known. =]
