You can wrap a doll in bandages as another person suggested!

Yahoo and google give you information on mummies. To make a mummy, take a doll and some strips of white cloth and wrap it around the doll starting at the nape of the head go around until you get to the feet and tuck in under and put a couple of stitches in it to hold. Tombs can be made from boxes. look for the right size cut it and shape it and wrap it with paper. Mix flour and water to make a paste to hold the paper. which are strips also.

You might want to try wrapping an action figure rather than a grotesquely skinny and long-legged doll like Barbie. Then once the figure is wrapped, you can form a sarcophagus around it. I have had good luck using that thin cardboard that comes around CupONoodles to make models with. It is easy to bend or fold, yet is sturdy enough to hold the shape you give it. A roll of white adhesive tape might be good for both the mummy and the sarcophagus. You can paint them if you want.

Try national geographics. They always have Egypt history in the magazines, I'm pretty sure they have a website. or try the History channel website. It might be technical information but you can use it to start your research. Try googling teacher websites too, and put in your mummies or tombs topic. That might get you the info you want at your grade level, so it won't be too hard to understand.

If you type 'Egyptian mummies' or 'Peruvian mummies' into your search engine, you'll get lots of material. You could make a model mummy by getting a Barbie doll and wrapping it in inch wide roller bandages, but I don't know of any paper models.
