One of the best sites is the http://www.w3schools.com you'll learn the W3C code standarts for developing web pages. You can also learn another languages there.

Get the classic book that has been around since 1991 (or so)
HTML 4 for Dummies
(other editions have earlier, older versions of HTML)

http://w3schools.com defiantly the best. Go though all there guides and try it outs.
