Post a HiJackThis log @ xtechforum.com and they'll be able to hunt down and tell you how to fix your problem. If you don't know how to post a HiJackThis log, then they can tell you how to do that too. It's easy.

it sounds to me like you have adequate amount of ram and CPU speed
i see other people suggesting hijackthis, this a good program to see what programs are starting up with windows, and it can even remove these items for you, but be careful with it because it will completely remove the entries, and if you remove the wrong stuff your gonna hose your computer.
a great free spy ware removal program is spybot search and destroy, it does a good job and costs nothing.

but my suggestion to find out why your computer is running slow would be to click (ctrl+alt+delete), goto the task manager, and click on processes, then sort it by memory usage and see whats eating up your memory, also sort it by CPU usage and see whats eating up your CPU. you can enter the file names into google search to find out what they are if you don't recognize them, then once you know what the program is that is slowing the computer down you can use hijackthis to remove the startup or you can use msconfig to disable the startup, you run msconfig from the run box in the start menu. also some programs put there startup entry under services in the administrative section in the control panel.

good luck

Perhaps adding more memory will do you some good. Not sure what you already have or what CPU you are currently using but usually, adding more RAM does the trick.
