The brother plays a guitar (my bf says he has long black straggly hair) and the sister plays the drums. Please help if you can we are going nuts trying to figure this out.

THE WHITE STRIPES!!!

I knew exactly who you were talking about just reading the title "Brother / Sister band." LOL!!

----------------------------------
I've always been curious as to whether or not they really are brother and sister:

Despite false rumours of the pair being brother and sister and then evidence of a marriage license and divorce certificate, they were never married. But they did go out with each other back in 1999. The last time the band played Glasto was in 2002 when they played a late afternoon slot on the Pyramid stage.

It is a perfect picture of a remarkable bond. Publicly, Jack and Meg, both thirty, claim to be brother and sister, even though a Detroit newspaper blew their cover a couple of years ago, revealing them to be ex-husband and -wife (married in 1996, divorced in 2000). But on their five albums as the White Stripes, and especially onstage, there is no mistaking the truth of their relationship. They make music like inseparable kindred spirits. "It will always be us two," Jack says of the Stripes over lunch that day in Detroit. "I will never do the White Stripes with another drummer. She'll never do it with another guitarist."

The White Stripes

They are not brother and sister. They are ex-husband and wife.

Jack took Meg's last name when they married (his real name is John Gillis) and kept the name when they divorced. There is a copy of their Michigan records of marriage and divorce online (these documents were originally printed in the Detroit Free Press).

Since then, Jack and Meg have not really mentioned the origins of their relationship in interviews and Jack has basically said that calling themselves siblings "mates them for life" and distracts less from the music (basically confirming they were once married).

I think you may be thinking of the "White Stripes". Many assume them to be brother and sister (Maybe it's the resemblance to eachother??) But they are actually husband and wife.
