first of all, you can look up "history of ireland" in google or in the ency for the facts and direct answers. but basically british have had a foot hold on lots of lands through out the world. slowly they have been releasing lands over the few centuries. but people have disagreements and don't get along all the time. so they divide the land up. some people in ireland want to stay apart of great britian and some don't. over time they will unite again if they haven't already. They are brothers and sisters and will get along some day.

It is in fact one country however it was divided by two seperate religions and there was civil strife for a very long time. The dispute became religious but it started because Britian was trying to keep control of one its colonies. Some people agreed and some didn't. A political thing became religious because like everything we blame something. The protestants said they were part of England and the English church whilst the Catholics said they were part of Ireland. It created civil unrest and the two sides blamed each others religion for it. Britian should have gave it up along time ago. There is finally peace in Ireland and my brothers and sisters can finally live in peace. Erin go bragh!!!!!!!!!!

Ireland used to be part of the UK but it got it's independence (except Ulster, the north) in 1921. If you want to see a great recent movie about it, check out The Wind That Shakes the Barley. Basically, GB didn't want to give it all to the Republicans and they didn't have to.

Remember East and West Germany?

Or, like North and South Korea. Disagreements are the key.

Ireland is one country silly. Only ideology divides it, not a border.
