Im a 20yo female. I am 5'5 and 135lbs. I went to the hospital because I thought I had an allergic reaction but the docs told me it was an anxiety panic attack and I had an upper resp infection and sent me home with xanax. Within the last two months had horrible chest pains. I've had 2 chest xrays, blood tests, 2 EKG's and even a CT scan and everything came back normal. I've been on Zoloft for about 3 weeks for depression and panic disorder My chest pains are interfering with MY LIFE !Also in this period I was put on Prevacid for about 2 weeks for acid reflux and had pleruicy ( lung lining imflamation) and was on vicodin and ibuprofin for 2 weeks as well. Needless to say, I've been a mess for almost 3 months. The pains dont seem to be because of panic though, I dont feel panic until after the pain comes. Its in both my right and left sides, but usually one sided at a time, also in the middle and spreads to my arm pits. When it aches, so does my upper back. HELP PLEASE! STRESS?

Typical symptoms of anxiety or a panic attack are:

restlessness
nervousness
bad temper
racing thoughts
rapid heartbeat,
muscle tension
extreme difficulty resting or concentrating

Try a effective but harmless natural remedy instead of any prescription drugs because of their known side effects. I used 'Pure Calm' a natural remedy, it worked for me. No harm in trying.

Another solution could be hypnotherapy. Hypnosis teaches you relaxation techniques to overcome anxiety problem.

At 35 I had some chest pains like you describe, because of my family history a doctor gave me a nitroglycerin pill. It worked! An angiogram ruled out heart disease. The diagnosis was a bacterial infection to the esophagus causing a kind of cramping of the smooth muscle lining (feels just like a heart attack). Next time you having pain go to emergency and beg for a nitro pill and see if it wont knock it out. If it's going to work it will work in 10 to 30 seconds.

Your taking so much medications & already under stress. The doctor didn't probably know or explain your condition. Your chest pain is due to Pleurisy. Browse on Pleurisy under The Lung Association on Yahoo Search so that you will understand your condition & not get depressed. You better look for another doctor.
