A combination of all of them. The Industrial Revolution brought many new opportunities to people in America. It emphasized urban life as opposed to rural life. Westward expansion forced the work on a better mode of transportation (railroads) and communication. The Civil War probably played a role as well, but I don't quite see how. It's been a while since I've studied it. The rest of the options all were causes of questions that needed to be answered. The answers were the industial age.

In the 1700 it would have been the westward expansion, but in the 1800 it was the railroad going west which linked the country coast to coast.
