Drums, I think, would be more harder for most people. It tests how fast your reactions are, and you have to have a great sense of rhythm to play it.
It all depends on whether you're good with notes or tempo. Notes, play guitar. Tempo, play drums.

i think drums would be easier than guitar to play. I'm good with rhythms though, so if u r good w/ rhythms the drums should be pretty easy. I play the violin in school but have my own mini guitar and I've never really been interested in playing. the point I'm trying to make is that i think drums r easier, especially if u can play a rhythm. the guitar might be easier though. try both and figure out which u like better. play the one u like or is easier for u.

drums is more difficult for me, although I handle rhythms quite well. I can play both, although I'm not very good at drums (unless they're the congo type). Guitar sounds nicer to me because it's got a pitch while drums are unpitched. You need to practise on drums a lot to get it right and to actually play a song you need someone else to accompany you or you're just a beat.

You better be extremely passionate about the drums if you (or your kids?) are pursuing that route. They're loud, not easily portable, and not a whole lot of people want to listen to an hour of drum solos.... But, they're a whole lot of fun.
BTW, I personally enjoy watching and listening to drummers, such as, Neil Peart and Nicko McBrain, who take rock band drumming to a whole different level. (yeah, I'm an old man)

Drums are percussion-based and therefore, it was easier for me to learn how to play these compared to the guitar.
The guitar involves learning the musical scales and chords, The exception to this are individuals who can play the chords by just listening.

i dont really think either one of them is harder than the other. it takes a lot of work to get really good at either one of them. i think drums might be a little more difficult to get use to, because of the bass drum, especially if you use double bass. but u just gotta work and get good.

Both instruments are equally difficult depending how extreme you develope your skill. Find the one you have more of a passion for.
